My Why & Why I chose a Side Hustle in Direct Sales

Finding your Why
“That was a hidden treasure I never expected to find. This is my place. This is mine. This is for me. THIS is my why.”
Previously, in our introduction, I touched on me having a little side hustle in activewear. Well I do, and it brings me so much joy! I want to touch on this one a little more.
If you ever venture into personal development, you are told to find your why.
When I came on board with my activewear company two years ago, I began searching for my why. It has changed a few times, and I had to dig deep to find some hard realizations. This is a very personal post. So, bare with me.
My why can be completed in a very simple sentence, but the reasons that lead me to that why are so much more.
MY WHY IS THIS: IT IS MY TURN TO SHINE. MY TURN TO DO SOMETHING THAT IS FOR ME. SOMETHING THAT IS MINE, AND BRINGS ME SO MUCH JOY!
You see, I work for my family business and have for the past 16 years, all while also working my real estate full time, hand in hand .....for 16 years, and helping on the farm as I am needed. I have a degree in Human Resource management and worked in that field 4 years before taking the plunge into the family business. In the beginning of my career with the family business, I was getting to use that degree quite a bit. As the years flew by, my degree is still used, but not as often as I wanted. Things change, right?! I am where I am meant to be, I know that, but a lot of sacrifice has come with that. I have chosen to put a lot of my career choices on hold to be where I am today. I do feel that is where God wanted me to be. Plus, burning the candle at both ends, working both jobs, trying to do all the things, and be all the things and be where everyone else wants me to be....leads to burn out. Quickly.
When I found my direct sales company, I researched extensively about the company, I knew I wanted to dive into the business side of it. I instantly felt excitement and joy. I was so burned out everywhere else. Russ and I sat down and talked about me thinking about adding more to my plate. And we both knew this could be an outlet for me, so I jumped in with both feet. 2 years later, I am not where I WANT to be status wise in the company, (a little impatient, that's me!) but I have learned SO MUCH, GROWN so much with personal development and the community I have gained is by far the best thing I could ever have imagined. That was a hidden treasure I never expected to find. This is my place. This is mine. This is for me. THIS is my why.
I encourage each of you to find your why. It will drive you on the hard days. On the days you want to throw in the towel, you will remember your why and continue to put one foot in front of the other. You don't have to be involved in a business, a side gig, or anything to find your why. Everyone needs their why. It drives you, it determines you, it makes you, you.
Find your why! This is mine! ❤

Leann
